Can’t be bothered with any of this exercise malarkey. It’s just the fact that I know it’s all pretend. If there were real taliban attacking us, I might be a bit more enthusiastic. But there’s not.
Saying that, it’s a bit better than I’d imagined. I hear that because I was sent out late, I missed all the hard work. Which is nice. It’s mainly just the boredom of stagging on and sitting on your own with the radios. Add that to me not really knowing quite what I’m doing yet and being the new person, it’s a bit exhausting.
Loving the fact that we don’t have to eat rations. There’s a cookhouse/tent out in our location in the field. Everyone moans about the quality of the food but I’m loving it. Spaghetti yesterday. Burgers teh day before. It’s hard to get to scoff with the odd working hours though.
I was well clueless when I got here. Didn’t have any canadian dollars. Didn’t know where to go. Didn’t know where anything was. It was horrible. If I knew how to get out of camp, I’d of gone AWOL.
It’s not too bad now. I kinda know what I’m doing. I’m on a break from the field today ’cause I had to take my canadian driving theory test. Failed twice. It’s well different to ours. They talk about moose and how far away you have to stop from a school bus. I’m not too bothered – the longer I put it off, the longer I go without having to drive.
If you drive into the wrong place or get lost on the area, you have a chance of being blown up. And there are shitloads of RTI/RTAs about. No thnx.
Well happy to get a shower, get online & have a chance to get some admin done on camp. Wearing the same clothes for over a week is naaaaasstyyy.
There seems to be wifi on the whole of this camp, which is amazing. Don’t even get that in the UK. The cookhouse on camp is even better than the one back home.
