The asus eee pc comes with skype ready installed and a built-in webcam & mic. Great! Instant out of the box video calls. Simple
No, it’s not.
The version of skype it comes with doesn’t support video calls. This took me a while to figure out. So I had to install the skype 2.0 beta which does support video. Thank goodness though, this instillation is nice and simple and doesn’t involve any smelly terminals/code.
The best thing about linux is the community. Everyone helps each other ^_^ It’s really nice.
So now I have skype & gimp set up… what else do I need?
Ye know what to buy me for christmas.
Edit: ow, installing wine has given me a headache
and now I have no idea what to do with it. hmph.

aaron – yeh, but I’m a newbie who hasn’t got a clue. I’m sure I’ll learn to appreciate it in time.
