K. So @AlanCarr was twittering about that sex ed show on C4. So I watch it. Right. Yeah. And there were teenagers looking at nekked people. Then the woman hosting the show was on a little side campaign to stop kids looking at porn. Fair ’nuff. Then she argued that computers should come with parental controls as default, “like mobile phones”.
What?? No.
Her argument was that you wouldn’t let a kid wonder in a newsagents and pick up a porn mag.
Yeah, but of course they will, if you don’t keep a fucking eye on them.
Let a child wonder into a shop without any supervision, and they will look at things they sohouldn’t.
If you don’t want your child to look at porn on their computer, make sure you can see what they’re doing online. Keep the computer where you can see it. In the living room or summat.
Then she wen’t into PC World asking for one of these PG computers, and came out disgraced that they don’t exist. She said that the computerman in the shop told her there were two ways of protecting children online. By installing software or BY GETTING AN ENGINEER ROUND TO DO IT THROUGH YOUR ROUTER?!?!?!?! WOT?!?!? HOW CONFUSING?!
STFU.
I’m not buying a PG computer just ’cause people are to lazy to keep an eye on their kids/set up parental controls for themselves.
